The Not-Its

Meet The Not-Its!, Seattle’s most rockin’ kid-focused band. With the success of their debut album, We Are The Not-Its! released June 2009, it’s clear they are on a mission to make kids dance, with up-tempo, power-pop hits families will love. Featuring the vocals of Sarah Shannon (of lauded ‘90s indie-pop band Velocity Girl), The Not-Its! combine crunchy guitars with smooth, four-part harmonies, all nestled within “fantastic danceable pop gems about gettin’ fancy, birthday parties, bath time and intergalactic play dates.”

Pickled Okra

http://getokra.com/

Top off your Thanksgiving with a little Pickled Okra!! Local favorites Pickled Okra’s special brand of Americana music might be described as “old-school, porch-settin’, sing into a can-style bluegrass”. If you ask one of the members of the band they’ll tell you it’s “ham and cheese grass”. Either way this group made up of two married couples (all characters in their own right), is undeniably charming and entertaining – not to mention pretty darn talented. Yes they know their bluegrass licks and aren’t afraid to show ‘em off, but their music is full of ideas borrowed from old time fiddle tunes, jazzy delta blues, pop, rock, reggae and funk as well, for a sound that is timeless yet modern in it’s own quirky way. It’s kind of like stepping back in time, but with indoor plumbing.

Get your new year off to a rockin’ start with acclaimed Seattle band Recess Monkey!! Made up of teachers who make music that grows out of their days in the classroom, they continue to be praised across the country for singable, danceable songs that parents enjoy as much as their kids. Known for high-energy live shows and laugh-out-loud funny lyrics that capture the essence of being young, “Recess Monkey just keeps turning out album after album with pop nuggets, as if we’d just discovered that the Beatles had recorded a ton of kids’ music 40+ years ago.”

Caspar Babypants

Caspar Babypants is back to rock the Ridge with two shows! Chris Ballew, lead singer of The Presidents of the United States of America, lends his wacky chops to Caspar Babypants, purveyor of simple, good time sing-along music for kids and parents to enjoy together. “It’s not much of a stretch from The Presidents,” says Ballew. “I’m still singing songs about bugs and animals. I’m still drawing upon the same influences — old folk music and blues.” For the second show, bring a picnic lunch and a blanket if you’d like!
